D decided to celebrate her 50th birthday, at home with a contemporary styled party reflecting her early life in South Africa, and more recently her love of Mediterranean Ibiza, clubs and dancing!
The party took place in her family’s beautiful walled garden in Suffolk, with deep herbaceous borders bursting with colourful plants in their prime. A pristine stretch tent was set up with poles throughout – including around the interior perimeter to give better head clearance for guests and make full use of as much floor space as was available.
Upon arrival, a wide array of exquisitely presented canapes were served to guests on the lawn, who, whilst drinking champagne, kept warm by the African Safari globe firepit. A very skilled photographer took some superb pictures throughout the evening, capturing not just the guests but many ‘behind the scenes’ intricate details.
As the sun set, guests retreated into the tent; there was no formal seating plan as D loved the informality of guests mingling throughout the evening whilst enjoying an eclectic selection of bowl food including ostrich burgers, octopus, boerworst, and grilled braai halloumi with roasted candy beetroot.
Poseur tables and contemporary low level white lounge furniture with mirrored cubes and cordless lamps and candles, created a magical atmosphere, and once guests were fuelled up, they literally danced almost all night to the sounds of Ibiza! The tent took on a warm African orange glow with breakup ripple lighting effects on the stretch tent ceiling, until the dancing began when guests were treated to an awesome light show and infectious adrenalin-pumping music!
Champagne and Espresso martinis kept everyone going, including some delectable late night sweet canapés
The DJ whom I have worked with on many occasions, was enjoying himself so much too that he generously ‘overran’ much to the guest’s joy and the party finished as the dawn chorus began!
